5G-IPAKA: An Improved Primary Authentication and Key Agreement Protocol for 5G Networks

The 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) has been enhancing the security of 5G AKA (authentication and key agreement) protocol. However, there may still be some shortcomings in latest version According to analysis protocol, this paper points out seven its shortcomings. To overcome these shortcomings, an improved primary authentication agreement protocol for networks is proposed, which named 5G-IPAKA. Compared with main improvements include that pre-shared between user equipment (UE) home network (HN) replaced a derivation as key, challenge-–response mechanism serving (SN) added, mutual confirmation occurs UE SN, message code (MAC) failure procedure timeout on HN. Then, 5G-IPAKA proven secure mixed strand space model protocols. Further discussion comparative show can above better than recently Additionally, efficient backward-compatible.
